We can now start with a systematical buying of books, office apparatus etc. Mary\IN{\reidemeistermarie} is brave and beautiful; we discuss all scientific problems at our monthly meetings. She writes plays and songs for her camp mates (in English, of course) sometimes\fnA{Original \original{something}.} executing as actress. I play chess and learn its theory besides probability. Waismann's\IN{\waismann} lectures on ``Mengenlehre''\fnEE{Bezieht sich vermutlich auf Waismanns Lehrtätigkeit in Oxford.} were stimulating; unfortunately is he a metaphysician. Strauss\IN{\straussmartin} was clever as usual. I hope to meet them in the near future. I accepted the invitation to deliver a course of lectures (Hilary term) at the University of Oxford on THE LOGICAL EMPIRICISM AND THE SOCIAL SCIENCES.\fnEE{Zu Neuraths Vorlesungen in Oxford im Frühjahr 1941 -- die ersten und einzigen Universitätskurse seiner Karriere -- siehe Tuboly, ,,United by Action``, 95f.} Prof. Radcliffe-Brown\fnA{\original{Ratcliffe Brown}}\IN{\radcliffebrown} asked the Home Secretary to expedite the release because the University wants to announce my lectures. I like Oxford very much and our honeymoon at this meditative idyllic place will be nice. I do not know when we shall visit the States; hardly during the war. I prefer to suffer together with our British friends from bombing and shortage. I received this dull internment from the Britons, I am glad that I shall receive my Oxford happiness from them too. I like these stubborn Britons with their ``muddling through''. They shall win the war.
