I shall come to Chicago\II{\universitychicago} for the Winter Quarter. On Oct.\,24, 6 p.m. I sent you a cable ``Morris\IN{\morris} University Chicago\II{\universitychicago}.
Winter. Carnap\IN{\carnap}'', and I hope it reached you in right time and with the right text. I have not yet my leave of absence,
but the competent ministerial-councillor told me, that no doubt my leave will be granted, and that therefore I can accept
the invitation and prepare my leaving. The American invitations seemed to have made a good impression on him; he told me
that he will try to accelerate my promotion as ``Ordinarius'' (full professor) -- which was proposed by our faculty about
half a year ago, but which I did not expect to be granted, because of the economic crisis and the general decision of
stopping all promotions -- and that the decision will be probably in January.

We shall sail from Bremen on board S.S. ``Bremen'' on Dec.\,15, and arrive at New York on Dec.\,21. Quine\IN{\quine} wrote me -- even
before he knows that we shall arrive before Xmas -- that the Harvard Fellow Society\II{\sof} intends to give a dinner for me on
Dec.\,23, if I can come so early. Thus I shall have an opportunity to meet some university people. We shall spend Xmas and
the following days at Cambridge. Then I shall go with Quine\IN{\quine} and others to the Baltimore Meeting\II{\kongressbaltimore} (Dec.\,29 to 31). I had a
letter from Mr. Murphy\IN{\murphy}, secretary of the Philos[ophical] Assoc[iation]\II{}, asking for a paper. Probably I shall read one.

I am very glad to have the invitation of the Univ. of Illinois\II{\universityillinois}. Many thanks for your kind and successful activity to
which I owe this invitation. I am enclosing the letter of Morrow\IN{} to you and a copy of my answer to him. I am ready to
deliver one popular lecture and perhaps three somewhat more technical ones. I am enclosing also the list of lecture
titles which I sent to the International Institute of Education\II{\iie}, New York, asking them for organizing a lecture tour
within the time from April\,1 to the middle or end of May, 1936. Perhaps the Lecture (1) of the list and the Lecture
Course, restricted to 3 lectures would be suitable for Morrow\IN{}? If M[orrow]\IN{} wishes to have the titles before January, please
give me your suggestion. If not, we may discuss it at Chicago. The same concerning the date. You suggested to Morrow\IN{} the
time of the early part of March as suitable also in the case of my coming to Chicago for the Winter Quarter. How may
I understand that? Am I right supposing that the Univ. of Illinois\II{\universityillinois} is at Urbana and that U[rbana] is distant a lot of miles
from Ch[icago] and that the Winter Quarter extends until March\,15? \neueseite{}

I am looking forward to the effect of your kind and good efforts concerning me at Chicago. I don't have any premature
illusions, thus I shall not feel disillusioned if things will not develop as desired. But if you succeed, I shall be very
happy. We are arranging all things here in such a way that in the favorable case we are able to stay in USA.

I send you the statement of my Harvard\II{\harvard} Courses. I did not write ``scientific philosophy'' because of Quine's\IN{\quine} suggestion
who seems to dislike this term. But if you have no objection to it you may keep the titles of my Chicago\II{\universitychicago} courses as we
fixed them in Paris: 1) Introduction to Scientific Philosophy, 2) Logical Analysis.

Yesterday Mrs.\IN{\benjaminfrau} and Mr. Benjamin\IN{\benjamin} were here; it was nice to meet them and to hear about Chicago, Urbana and their
European impressions. To-day they will leave Prague and go to Vienna for some weeks.
