1. “Logische Syntax“B1934@Logische Syntax der Sprache, Wien, 1934. I am expecting your proposal of an agreement. This agreement will be only between you and myself and has nothing to do with SpringerPSpringer, Julius der Jüngere, 1880–1968, dt. Verleger. In order to give a survey of the present situation of our discussion, allow me to sum up the condition of the different items. (Quotations from your or my letters are given with “O“ or “C“ respectively, with the date.)
a. The Fee. You have proposed £15 (O. 29. 3.). I have proposed that I should get nothing at the time of publication, but later every year a payment in proportion to the number of books sold, i. e. a percentage to be fixed, on every copy sold. You think that it will be possible to made an agreement on these lines (O. 27. 5.). According to your calculation there might perhaps be only a small result for me (O. 27. 5.); in spite of that I would prefer that way of payment (C. 31. 5.). As percentage I have proposed 8 % of the selling price (C. 18. 5.).
b. Number of Copies. You have proposed 1500 or 2000 (O. 11. 12. 33, 29. 3.). I have proposed 1000 (C. 13. 4.). I consent to any number of copies which seems to you convenient, in the case you accept my proposal as to the manner of payment (C. 31. 5.).
c. Date of Publication. I must make the condition that the book will not be published before April 1, 1935 (C. 31. 5.). (This condition is for myself very unpleasant but I have been compelled to this compromise by Springer (C. 31. 5.)).
d. Price. Springer has fixed the price of the German book to 21‚80 RM in spite of my wished to make it lower. You consider it impossible that the English price may be fixed according to the German price (O. 27. 5.), and I quite agree with you. I should be glad if you would fix the price much lower (C. 18. 5.).
e. Free copies. For special reasons I have asked for 20.
f. The Chapters taken out in the German edition will be put back in the translation (O. 10. 3.).
g. Psyche-MonographsIPsyche Monographs. The agreement now will be made with you as for a Ps[yche] Mon[ograph]. But when the translation is ready, you will kindly make an attempt with Kegan PaulIKegan Paul, Verlag to get the book into the “International Library for Psychology“I. If they do not accept, our agreement as to a Ps[yche]-Mon[ograph]IPsyche Monographs remains valid (O. 29. 3., C. 23. 4.). 🕮

But I would be glad if you could find a publisher. The lectures will be given at Oct. 8, 10 and 12. They are entitled: “Philosophy and logical syntax. – 1. Why We Reject Metaphysics. – 2. Logical Syntax of Language. – 3. Syntax as the Method of Philosophy.“
Prof. FrankPFrank, Philipp, 1884–1966, öst.-am. Physiker und Philosoph, verh. mit Hania Frank, Bruder von Josef Frank had the misfortunate in April in Paris to be injured by a motor-car and to break thereby his leg. He was compelled to remain in Paris in a hospital. Therefore he could not come to England. His recovery has taken very much time. But he is hoping to return to Prague in the next time.
