\haupttext{your letter (about Springer\II{\springerverlag}) was sent to me in the \blockade{country?}, and I do not get back to London till April\,3; so I am
writing a short answer to your questions.

\uline{I. For all Psyche\II{\psyche}, Basic\II{}} and Orthological\II{} printed material Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag} are our distribution representatives. That
is to say, they take the books from us when they have been through our hands as producers. They \neueseite{}
are not responsible for the printing, producing, or business ride in any other way
than as putting their name on the front page.

2. ``The International Library of Psychology``\II{}, on the other hand, is printed by them, and I am only
responsible for the quality of the books to which I give my approval. But because of the
present condition of the market, they do not take more than 1\% even of the suggestions which \uline{till 1929} would
have been normal suggestions.

3. Because of the conditions here and in America, they have taken nothing \neueseite{} as such a question as logic or aesthetics
for more than three years. One or two old agreements have been put through, such as Vossler\IN{} and Max Black\IN{\black}; but there is
very little chance anything on language theory from another language (that is to say, not an English University
`text`-book) seeing the light before 1936.

The best time to \uline{make an attempt} to get your book\IC{\logischesyntaxenglisch} into the Library\II{} would be \uline{when it is ready in English}.
A fait accompli is generally better than an outline. \neueseite{}

4. I will certainly put the suggestion again to Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag}, for the Library, when it is ready in English; but if they
still do not see a market for it, the \uline{Psyche `Monographs`}\II{\psychemonographs} are designed for this purpose. They are of the same
form as ``The Meaning of Meaning``\IW{} and the rest of the Library for Psychology\II{}, but they are like the ``Psyche (1933)
Annual``\II{} in colour. So far there are two of them

1. \uline{The Origin of Instinct}\IW{} by Bugnion\IN{}

2. \uline{The Guidance of Conduct}\IW{} by Dixon\IN{} \neueseite{}

Number 3 will be

\uline{The Image and Appearance of the Human Body}\IW{}, by Dr Paul Schilder\IN{} (of Vienna and New York), now with the printer.

5. When I said that Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag} make payments, for us, once every year, it was not because \uline{you} will get a payment
once a year. The \uline{payment} will be made when the first agreement is signed; that is to say, an agreement for
\uline{\textsterling{}\,15 on the first 2000 copies}. Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag} make payments to us \neueseite{} in June
of every year (as at March\,31 of that year) from which we will be able to say what number of copies is still in hand. So
that you will not be in \blockade{?} if a second printing is needed.

6. Your point about a division of this small amount with Springer\II{} is quite
clear. But \uline{I am hoping that there will be no need to have any relations with
Springer\II{}.} The Berlin Springer\II{}, at any rate, has frequently been a cause of trouble; and for \neueseite{} that reason it is
important for us to be able to make agreements with \uline{writers} who are the owners of their international rights. I
am waiting for your further news on this point.

7. \uline{The addition of the material not in the German book\IC{\logischesyntax}} is not a help to us! The natural request would be for us
to make the payment to you \uline{smaller} -- on account of the addition to the size of the book. But we \neueseite{}
are ready to make this addition to the size so that your ideas may be as complete as possible.

8. My view that \uline{no other English house} would take your book\IC{\logischesyntaxenglisch} at the present
time, or (if it did) make a greater payment than \textsterling{}\,15, or get it out this year if it was taken, may be wrong. I
would not, however, let our discussions have any effect on your chance of taking for some other publisher. But in that
case \neueseite{} it would be necessary to give the Countess \uline{Zeppelin}\IN{\zeppelin} (the only person who is truly able to put it into good
English) some other Psyche work\IW{} in place of it.
