I am directed by the Academic CouncilI, acting on behalf of the SenateI, to ask if you will consent to deliver in this University a Course of two or three LecturesB1934@Philosophy and Logical Syntax, London, 1935 on a subject connected with Philosophy. The inclusive fee offered for the course is £ 45.

If, as we hope will be the case, you are able to accede to this request, and to render the UniversityIUniversität London this important service, I should be glad if you would kindly suggest dates that will meet with your convenience. The dates for the University Terms for the Session 1934-35 are as follows:

1st Term: 4th October to 12th December, 1934.

2nd Term: 15th January to 26th March, 1935.

3rd Term: 30th April to 2nd July, 1935.

The University Examinations are held at the end of the Third Term, and it is hoped therefore that your Lectures may be given in the First or Second Term, or, if in the Third Term, before the end of May.

If you desire to give the Lectures in the First Term it would be convenient to receive with your reply, or as soon as possible afterwards, the title of the Course for inclusion in the University GazetteI and elsewhere.

While the publication of Special University Lectures is in no sense a condition, the Council hope that the Lectures may be published, and a Publication Fund has been instituted by the SenateI from which grants may be made for the purpose. The UniversityIUniversität London, however, cannot take part in any negotiations for the publication of the Lectures. I should make it clear that there is no obligation to publish, that the University makes no claim on the copyright of your lectures, and that if you decide to publish, the question of the manner of publication is entirely one for you and your publishers.
