\brief{C.K. Ogden an Rudolf Carnap, 4. Dezember 1933}{Dezember 1933} %December 4, 1933. \anrede{Dear Dr. Carnap,} \haupttext{I have already apologized\fnAmargin{Ksl.} for delaying this letter so long. I wanted to make clear one or two points on which it is important there should be no misunderstanding. The proposal put to you by Mr. Black\IN{\black} for a little book to introduce your work to the English public refers to a volume in the ``Psyche`` Miniatures\II{\psycheminiatures}. These are published by Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag}, \uline{for} ``Psyche``\II{\psyche}; but otherwise they are in no way concerned or responsible. ``Psyche``\II{\psyche} has certain funds for getting work \uline{printed}, which would otherwise not be brought to the attention of those likely to be interested. In general, therefore, we make no payment to the author (nor, of course, to any publisher for the rights of translation), but in this case we are making a small payment to Mr. Black\IN{\black} for his work. Since, however, you raise the question of a fee and of the size of the edition, I am authorized to offer you a nominal \uline{fee of \textsterling{}\,5,} for an edition not to exceed 1500 copies; any further printing to be subject to a further arrangement. Also to send you 12 copies of the book when it is ready. If this is satisfactory to you we can proceed at once, and get the book out early in the New Year. When Dr. Neurath\IN{\neurath} was here I suggested to him the possibility of his writing some sort of general Preface. I have not yet mentioned this to Mr. Black\IN{\black}, as I wanted to hear from you whether such a suggestion would have your approval. If not for this book\IC{}, perhaps for the \neueseite{} book\IC{} on which you are now working, and in which we would be more particularly interested. I would like to have the option on the rights of this further book \uline{for a week} to see if Messrs. Kegan Paul\II{\keganpaulverlag} would themselves be interested. Might I hear what your proposal would be in this case? (I may mention that an `outright` payment of \textsterling{}\,15 or \textsterling{}\,20 has been usual in similar circumstances in the past). Hoping to hear from you at your early convenience, I am,} \grussformel{Yours very truly,\\ C.K. Ogden} \briefanhang{P.S. Would you address your reply to me C.K.
